A method for treating tinnitus using gaboxadol or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof is provided. Also provided are therapeutic compositions that can be used to ameliorate one or more symptoms of tinnitus. A method for treating acute sensorineural hearing loss or Meniere's disease using gaboxadol or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof is provided. Also provided are therapeutic compositions that can be used to ameliorate one or more symptoms of acute sensorineural hearing loss or Meniere's disease.
