PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems in which: a user removes a tip metal part when replacing a refill without losing an elastic member; and an end face of the refill is caught by a step part arranged at a rotary cam or an end face of a narrow diameter part of a barrel inside when the refill is passed through the narrow diameter part of the barrel or the refill is inserted into a rotator during refill replacement at the assemblage to let the user feel troublesome and degrade the productivity.SOLUTION: A retractable writing instrument is given in which a refill is arranged in a barrel projecting or retracting due to rotation of a rotator and forward/backward movement thereof. A partition wall is arranged on an inner surface of the barrel by a circumferential rib, and the rotator is arranged at the rear of the partition wall. A through hole through which the refill penetrates is arranged in the partition wall, a taper part with diameter reduction from the front end side to the rear end side is arranged at the front end of the through hole. A refill insertion hole into which the refill is inserted is arranged in the rotator, and a taper part with diameter reduction from the tip part to backward is arranged at the front part of the refill insertion hole.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
