The present invention relates to a universal fluid system connector that creates an airtight seal between several smoke evacuation system receptacles and several hoses. The universal connector includes a body and a seal having a plurality of flexible fins that extend radially. A plurality of fins on the seal is arranged along the length of the body, in which the outer edges of the fins assume a frustoconical shape. The fins also include one or more flexing zones of varying hardness and one or more flexible fin extensions. The fins deform against the inner wall of a receptacle and form a hermetic friction fit between the universal connector and the receptacle, regardless of the taper angle, size, threads or other features of the receptacle.
