Several compounds have been found that modulate signal transduction through the pd-1 receptor. In some embodiments, the compounds promote or induce an activation signal through the pd-1 receptor that activates a t cell. The compounds may bind to pd-1 and inhibit or prevent ligands from binding to pd-1 and thus suppress inhibitory signal transduction through the pd-1 receptor.
