low-cost autoclavable videolaryngoscope with a barrier device against aerosols and respiratory droplets approximately 14% of people diagnosed with covid-19 require hospitalization and oxygen therapy, and 5% require support in intensive care units (ICU). the most severe cases may require tracheal intubation. during intubation, the patient frequently coughs, with the production of streakers and aerosols with the potential to transmit covid-19, increasing the risk of contamination by health professionals and the tension of the team. In Ceará, only the largest private hospitals and few in the public network have video laryngoscopes available, their prices vary between R $ 12 and R $ 16 thousand, their batteries are expensive and of little durability and most of them have disposable blades, which makes it more expensive and limits the use of these devices. in response to this demand, the present utility model proposes a low-cost and easy-to-use videolaryngoscope. the equipment will be printed with 3d printing technology, with autoclavable material and will have a disposable barrier device attached to its cable, to reduce the dispersion of aerosols and droplets in a possible cough of the patient during intubation. the equipment can be attached to a cell phone or computer.
