A letter-plate (1) for a door (4) comprises a sleeve (9) adapted to line surfaces of an aperture (5) formed through the door (4) and to define openings that in use are located on opposite sides of the door (4). A first flap (7) is provided that is pivotally mountable to one end of the sleeve (9) to cover the opening on said one side of the sleeve (9). Pivotal movement of the flap (7) relative to the sleeve (9) after mounting is restricted by two stays (35) that are respectively connectable between the flap (7) and the sleeve (9) on opposite sides of said opening. The stays (35) thereby control the maximum angle to which the flap (7) can pivot relative to the sleeve (9). The stays (35) are hinged to one side of the first flap (7) and prior to fitment of the first flap (7) to the sleeve (9) are rotatable to project outwards from said one side of the flap (7) in order to engage respectively through slots (36) defined by the sleeve (9) on opposite sides of the opening on said one side of the sleeve (9). Preferably, the stays (35) rotate outwards from said one side of the flap (7) and snap-fit into a position wherein they extend substantially perpendicular to said one side of the flap (7).
