The present invention provides a visual measurement method of the levitation gap based on image processing, including: obtaining an original high-definition image of the levitation gap, and obtaining the binarized image of the region of interest in the levitation gap by processing; then, calculating the number of pixels with the binarization result of 1 in the binarized image of the region of interest in the levitation gap to obtain the pixel area s of the region of interest in the levitation gap; and finally calibrating the pixel area with the actual gap distance, and calculating the actual gap distance d. In the present invention, the actual gap distance is calculated according to the pixel area of the image of the region of interest in the levitation gap, which has high measurement accuracy and strong anti-interference ability, can effectively remove the asymmetric interference existing in the region of interest in the levitation gap and can alarm and locate the interference fault position; and the change in the actual levitation gap distance is calculated through the change in the pixel area of the image of the region of interest in the levitation gap, which has the advantages of sensitive tracking and high linearity, and the real-time performance and accuracy can meet the requirements of the levitation ball control system.
