In order to automatically provide information relating to commercials included in a program, this commercial information generation device 100 is provided with: a commercial segment detection unit 120 which detects one or more commercial segments in a program by comparing the program volume and a volume threshold value; a commercial detection list generation unit 150 which, by comparing detected commercials, which are commercials in the commercial segments detected by the commercial segment detection unit 120, and commercial masters, with which the commercial-placing company names have been associated in advance, generates a commercial detection list of the names of the companies that have placed the aforementioned detected commercials; a company name list generation unit 170 which generates a company name list of company names identified from sponsorship credit displays which show program sponsors; and a commercial information generation unit 180 which, by comparing the commercial detection list and the company name list, generates commercial information relating to the detected commercials.
