The present invention relates to a method for analyzing an acidic mucopolysaccaride or a salt thereof contained in a test specimen, the method comprising subjecting the test specimen containing an acidic mucopolysaccaride or a salt thereof to a qualitative test and a quantitative test. The qualitative test includes: an electrophoresis step for subjecting the test specimen to electrophoresis using a membrane; a staining step for staining the membrane with alcian blue following the electrophoresis; and a detection step for confirming the type of acidic mucopolysaccaride or the salt thereof in the test specimen from a band pattern obtained by the staining. The quantitative test includes a colorimetric determination step for quantitatively determining the acidic mucopolysaccaride or the salt thereof in the test specimen by means of colorimetry using a colorant capable of detecting the acidic mucopolysaccaride or the salt thereof.
