The invention concerns a method for shaping, by compacting, a fibrous structure (200) obtained by three-dimensional or multilayer weaving between a plurality of layers of warp threads and a plurality of layers of weft threads. The threads of each plurality of layers of warp threads and layers of weft threads are coated with a sizing composition. The shaping comprises a pre-compacting step followed by a final compacting step of the fibrous structure (200). During the pre-compacting and the final compacting, the fibrous structure (200) is at a temperature greater than or equal to the softening temperature of the sizing composition. The method further comprises cooling of the fibrous preform obtained after the final compacting of the fibrous structure.
