Application of D-serine as a marker in preparing a diagnostic kit for depression and the diagnostic kit for depression, which relate to the technical field of depression diagnosis. By means of researching metabolic substances having abnormal lesion in brain tissues of depression patients, research results show that D-serine is closely related todepression. Therefore, D-serine as the marker is proposed for the first time to be applied to fields related to preparation of depression diagnostic kits, and the defect of non-objective diagnosis of indices used in depression diagnosis processes at present are overcome, thereby providing brand-new, more accurate and objective diagnosis standards for future depression diagnosis, and further providing a new concept for diagnosing depression. The present diagnostic kit for depression may quickly and accurately detect the concentration of D-serine in the cerebrospinal fluid of test subjects, and thereby effectively and accurately determine whether the test subjects suffer from depression as well as the severity of the depression.
