A composite oxide Li1-xMn0.8}Ni0.2O2, a prepration method therefor and use thereof. Said oxide is a symbiotic spinel/spinel/layered composite oxide Li1-xMn0.8}Ni0.2O2, wherein 0<x≤0.5. Due to the increased interface and the presence of three dimensional lithium ion channels in spinel, relative to single phase spinel LiMn1.5Ni0.5O4, such a composite structure obtains significant improvement in the coulombic efficiency, the long-term cycle charging property and the structural stability of the material, and can keep the discharge capacity constant in multiple continuous charging periods, being a battery cathode material having superior properties. At the same time, the composite oxide has a simple preparation process and easily available materials, having a good prospect in industrial promotion applications.
