Disclosed are a harmonic wave compensation device for single phase grid connected inverters and a method thereof. In the harmonic wave compensation device for compensating a harmonic wave of grid current, the harmonic wave compensation device for single phase grid connected inverters comprises: a current controller performing control of grid current set in a synchronous coordinate system through proportional integral (PI) control; and a harmonic wave compensator performing harmonic wave compensation of the grid current set in a rest coordinate system through proportional resonant (PR) control.
