Rapid high yield purification method of Neisseria meningitidis serogroup X capsular polysaccharide

The present invention discloses a method for rapid high yield purification of Neisseria meningitidis serogroup X capsular polysaccharide. The capsular polysaccharide of the invention can be used to produce economical monovalent capsular polysaccharides or polysaccharide protein conjugate vaccines or multivalent combination vaccines as well as diagnostic tools for meningococcal serogroup X infection. The method uses simple salts and small amounts of ethanol. The method is fast, economical and scalable with high yield of purified polysaccharides of Neisseria meningitidis serogroup X.
