The present invention relates to a positive electrode active material for a potassium secondary battery using a combustion synthesis method, which is a novel layered potassium transition metal oxide synthesized by the combustion synthesis method. Also provided are a method for synthesizing potassium manganese nickel oxide K0.55[NixMn1-x]O2 (x=0, 0.1) and a potassium secondary battery using the same as a positive electrode active material.
