The present invention relates to a bathtub for preventing a drowning accident of a bathing person and a control method thereof. The bathtub comprises: a bathtub tube which has an accommodation space and is formed concavely; and a bathtub body which has the bathtub tube formed therein and is mounted on the ground. The bathtub tube includes: a signal collection unit which has a plurality of contact sensors formed on the lower surface of the accommodation space to come in contact with the head, neck, upper body, and lower body of a bathing person, and receives on-off signals sensed by the plurality of contact sensors; and a control unit to sense on-off signals of the contact sensors received by the signal collection unit and then determine whether the on-off signals are abnormal. Accordingly, when an aged bathing person falls into water due to fainting or the like, the bathtub can notify the outside of the dangerous situation, and operate a warning means such as sound or physical vibration to allow the bathing person to regain consciousness to prevent accident risks.
