The present invention provides a method for preparing a non-carbonized activated carbon fiber using an isotropic pitch and a non-carbonized activated carbon fiber prepared thereby. According to the present invention, the preparation method comprises the steps of: preparing an isotropic pitch fiber by spinning an isotropic pitch; stabilizing the isotropic pitch fiber; and activating the stabilized isotropic pitch. In this preparation method, the activated carbon fiber can be more simply and economically prepared by excluding a carbonization process which requires a long time and high energy, unlike a conventional method for preparing an activated carbon fiber. In addition, the non-carbonized activated carbon fiber prepared by the preparation method of the present invention has a large specific surface area and excellent adsorption performance.
