The present disclosure relates to a downlink and uplink message transmission and reception procedure in a base station using 5G technology, which is a next generation wireless access technology. In particular, the present invention relates to a message transfer technology using a fronthaul interface between a central unit and a distributed unit constituting a 5G base station. In an embodiment, a method for transmitting and receiving a message by a central unit (CU) constituting a base station generates a downlink message for transmission to one or more distributed units (DUs) associated with the central unit. And transmitting the downlink message to the one or more distributed units through the fronthaul interface and receiving the uplink message from the one or more distributed units through the fronthaul interface.
