The reinforcing member for a flexible printed wiring board conducts the ground wiring pattern of the flexible printed wiring board to an external ground potential. The metal base material and the nickel layer formed in the surface of the metal base material are included. The nickel layer contains phosphorus in the range of 5.0% by mass to 20.0% by mass, and the rest is composed of nickel and unavoidable impurities, and has a thickness of 0.2 µm to 0.9 µm.
