The present invention decomposes polycarbonate (Poly (bisphenol A carbonate)) into bisphenol A and carbonate under an organic catalyst and alcohol conditions selected from guanidine derivatives and amidine derivatives ( alcoholysis) relates to a method for decomposing polycarbonate. Thereby, under mild conditions and low catalyst loading, poly (bisphenol A carbonate) can be decomposed into raw materials bisphenol A and dimethyl carbonate. In addition, the reaction process can be simplified and decomposition can be designed so that no auxiliary solvent is required.
