The sensing system receives an RF signal source outputting a microwave and a first optical pulse train output from a pulse laser through a first path, and a phase error corresponding to a phase error between the microwave output from the RF signal source and the first optical pulse train. 1 A first optical phase detector outputting an electrical signal and a second optical pulse train output from the pulse laser are input through a second path, and the phase error between the microwave output from the RF signal source and the second optical pulse train is determined. And a second optical phase detector generating a compensating second electrical signal and synchronizing the RF signal source to the second optical pulse train by feeding the second electrical signal back to the RF signal source. The second optical pulse train is a signal passing through the sensor in the second path. The measured physical quantity of the sensor is obtained from the first electrical signal.
