An aspirator is disclosed for providing vacuum to a device in a boosted engine air system. This extractor has a body, which body is located between the converging motive section, the divergent discharge part, at least one suction port, and the outlet end of the converging motive part and the inlet end of the divergent discharge part. Includes Venturi gap. The linear distance is measured between the outlet end and the inlet end. The length of the linear distance is reduced if a higher suction vacuum is required in a certain set of operating conditions, and also the length of the linear distance is increased if a higher suction flow rate is required in a certain set of operating conditions.
