The present invention relates to a method for treating keratinous material, in particular human hair, comprising the following steps: application of a water-containing agent (a) to the keratinic material, the agent (a) having a pH of at least 9.6 possesses and contains: (a1) at least one organic silicon compound from the group of the silanes with one, two or three silicon atoms, and (a2) at least one alkalizing agent from the group of ammonia, alkanolamines and basic amino acids, and - application of an agent (b) on the keratinous material, wherein the agent (b) contains: (b1) at least one film-forming polymer.
