The invention relates to a method for obtaining drinking water from the humidity in the environmental air, wherein the molecules and atoms contained in the environmental air are ionized by an ionization device and water vapor attaches to the ionized molecules and/or atoms and the ionized environmental air, together with the ionized molecules and/or atoms, to which water is attached, is directed through a channel which is located in an electrical field, and as a result the ionized molecules and/or atoms to which the water is attached are separated in the environmental air. The ionized molecules and/or atoms are recombined after the separation and the energy released during the recombination is supplied to the ionization device again, such that the energy required for the ionization of the particles is obtained from the recombination of the ionized particles (see figure 1).
