Systems and methods are provided for reversing the conventional roles of central and peripheral devices in a BLE network. This includes the implementation of an end node (EN) as the sole initiator of a connection between a specific EN and other components within the network. Such an initiation can be controlled by the network in order to effect a transmission of the EN functionality between one or more of the other components. The execution of the transmission depends on a network-controlled time control, which determines the functionality of all network components. The network is accordingly able to influence the power consumption of these components in order to optimize the use of their respective power resources.
