Auxiliary tool for grinding a cutting edge (13) of a tool blade (14), with a block-shaped body (1) resting on a flat base (15) in a working position of the auxiliary tool, namely when grinding the cutting edge (13), having a base area (3 ) and at least one flat contact surface (2) for the flat contact of a tool blade (14) which is to be machined and which with its cutting edge (13) projects beyond the block-shaped body (1), the base surface (3) of the block-shaped body (1) in the working position facing the base (15) and the at least one contact surface (2) of the block-shaped body (1) is inclined at an acute angle (8) against the base (15), characterized in that at one end of the contact surface (2) opposite block-shaped body (1) an adjusting means (4) is arranged, with one for adjusting the inclination of the contact surface (2) over the base (3) out of the block-shaped body (1) or into it baren and in terms of the respective length of its protrusion from the block-shaped body (1) fixable element (5).
