The invention relates to a method allowing the execution of transmission functions hosted in intermediate equipment of a path established between two communication equipment. End-to-end encryption systems are designed to resist any attempt at surveillance or falsification, since no third party can decrypt or modify the data communicated. There is a solution which, depending on the requests for opening connections of the applications, makes it possible to select and assemble the transport protocols necessary for the operation of the application. However, this process is local: this protocol stack is only assembled at the level of the communication equipment constituting the ends of the connections. Consequently, the requests sent by these applications are not transmitted to the intermediate equipment which hosts the desired functions. The invention makes it possible to restore cooperation between communication equipment, constituting the ends of a connection, with intermediate nodes hosting transmission functions.
