The invention relates to a method of detecting a nerve in a series of ultrasound images, comprising, for each image of said series, - a step of determining (E1, E3) a set of regions of interest by artery detection, this detection consisting in applying an automatic classification to a sliding window on said image generating a set of candidate areas, then in selecting (E32, E33) regions of interest from among the candidate areas by searching for outlines characteristic of 'an artery within them; a step of determining (E4) the nerves as a function of the relative arrangement with respect to the arteries detected as a function of said regions of interest.
