A cable reel trolley 100 comprising a frame 101 having a pair of ground engaging wheel 130s, at least one ground engaging foot 105, a forwardly projecting handle 109 and a removeable spindle 107 releasably secured to the frame. The frame is foldable to and from a stowed, substantially flat configuration and an expanded operational configuration. The handle is preferably slidable, ideally telescopically in one of the other frame parts. There may be a braking mechanism (117, see fig.8) for engagement of a cable reel. The braking mechanism may comprise a braking disc (401, see fig. 30) to allow a plethora of disparate shaped and sized cable reels to be used with the cable reel trolley. The brake system may comprise a braking arm 121 for engagement with a braking pad and the pad may be pivotally mounted on the frame. The braking arm may comprise an elongate arm slidably mounted in a housing and may comprise a saw-toothed arrangement for providing a plurality of mounting points for engagement of the brake pad.
