An electrically operable aerosol-generating system comprises a charging device (201) comprising a primary power source (203), and an aerosol-generating device (220) comprising a secondary power source (226). The aerosol-generating device is an elongated aerosol-generating device having a proximal end (223), a distal end (224), and a body (225) extending between the proximal end and the distal end. The charging device has a docking arrangement configured to engage with the aerosol-generating device for charging of the secondary power source by the primary power source. A first coupling member (227) located on the body of the aerosol-generating device is capable of engagement with a second coupling member (217) located on a wall of the charging device.
