The invention is directed to an adhesive composition and use thereof for providing self-healing adhered roofing systems. The adhesive composition comprises at least one rubber component, at least one organic solvent, and 12.5 - 40 wt.-% of at least one powdered superabsorber polymer, based on the total weight of the adhesive composition. The invention is also directed to a self-healing membrane composite, to a method for forming a self-healing adhered roofing system, to a self-healing adhered roofing system and to use of at least one powdered superabsorber polymer in an adhesive for providing a self-healing adhered roofing system.
