In the last decades, the use of computerudbecomes a new trend in education. Students and teachersudare aware that they really need a computer as a media forudthe learning activity. In supporting the development ofudstudents‘ language competence and skills, therefore, theudComputer-Assisted Language Learning is developed toudassist students to be more autonomous. On the otherudhand, students who learn English as a foreign languageudalso need a teacher to become their facilitator in theudteaching learning activity because he or she plays anudimportant role for them in enhancing and masteringudEnglish. The aim of this paper is to find out theudadvantages and disadvantages of these two opposingudtreatments to the English learning activity, and howudCALL and learning English with teacher assistance canudbe applied to support the students‘ English mastery.
