摘要

The inhibitive action of azure A (AA) against the corrosion of mild steel (MS) in 0.5 M H2SO4 soln. was studied by gravimetric and electrochem. techniques. The inhibition efficiency increased with increase in concn. of AA. The adsorption of AA on mild steel surface obeys Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Polarization measurements showed that the studied inhibitor is mixed type with significant redn. of cathodic and anodic current densities. Electrochem. impedance spectroscopy measurements revealed that the charge transfer resistance increases with increase in the concn. of AA. Various thermodn. and adsorption parameters were evaluated and discussed. The inhibition efficiency of AA synergistically increased by the addn. of KI. The relation between inhibition efficiency and mol. structure of AA is discussed by considering quantum chem. parameters. [on SciFinder(R)]
