The present invention relates to the field of hydrocarbon treatment that causes corrosion on metal surfaces of process units. The present invention solves the technical problems of high temperature naphthenic acid corrosion and sulfur corrosion, and provides a method of suppressing this type of corrosion. Compositions formed by reacting highly reactive polyisobutylene (HRPIB) with phosphorus pentasulfide in the presence of a catalytic amount of sulfur provide high corrosion inhibition efficiency at high temperature naphthenic acid corrosion inhibition and sulfur corrosion inhibition.
