Derrière la clôture de sécurité israélienne en Cisjordanie : une future frontière politique ? (Beyong the israeli security fence in West Bank : a future political boundary ?)

On June 14th 2002, the Israeli government decided to build up a fence in West Bank, owing to security reasons. For Palestinian people, this building is viewed as a segregation wall. With breaking West Bank's territorial continuity, it denies their most fundamental rights and destroys the possibility to create a viable Palestinian State. Are Israeli authorities intentions only based upon security matters ? This paper is trying to scrutinize this key question with an analysis on the fence's origins and its current and future characteristics. We also examine what are the issues for Palestinians and Israel that can or could lead to this fence building.
