Comment les unités d'élite parlent-elles d'elles-mêmes: le cas du GIGN

Elite units have a policy relating to violence which has never been changed by public discussion. Research into the Intervention Group of the Gendarmerie Nationale (GIGN) has revealed that this discourse is particularly complex. It mixes three forms of identity references - police officer/GIGN/military - in the ways in which people refer to themselves and to their powers. The overall structure which this creates is justified above all by participants' collective experience of danger.
