Projekt Analiza funkcjonowania bibliotek naukowych w Polsce (AFBN) jako narzędzie oceny efektywności i jakości działań biblioteczno-informacyjnych

The issue of assessing the efficiency and quality of library and information services is a crucial point of many professional works being undertaken in LIS all over the world. The attempt at creating the program which would give such an assessing, has been held in Poland nowadays. The issue which required the biggest effort in working on that project was collecting and compiling the data in a way which could guarantee its credibility and objectivity and, in the same time, retain the uniformity used for analyzing the data in different aspects. The Project (http://ssk2.bu.amu.edu.pl/standaryzacja/) is a useful for library management and also used for creating the objective comparisons on both qualitative and quantitative range (internal and external benchmarking). It is also meant to bring arguments in relations with the units supervising the libraries and to indicate possible threats and opportunities. The paper presents the general principles of the Project, the possibilities in using the program by different groups of users and selected results performance measurement in academic libraries in 2002-2006.
