This dissertation seeks to examine if the provisional measures ordered by an International Arbitration Tribunal are binding on states. In order to get there, I willanalyze the different conventions and the various regulations of each of the major International Arbitration Centers, and primarily analyze cases in which Tribunalshave ordered provisional measures, and therefore determine whether the state has complied with the provisions of the Tribunal.In this dissertation we mainly analyze cases in which Ecuador is involved, where not only we can find several decisions of arbitral tribunals for provisional measures, butalso a ruling from the Supreme Court of Justice of Ecuador, which advocates for enforcement of these measures when ordered by international courts.
