The Project Unmanned Aircraft - Galapagos UAV includes the development of differentconsecutive prototypes of unmanned aircrafts developed from knowledge of students fromdifferent faculties of the Polytechnic school, with professional knowledge of teachers belongingto the Universidad San Francisco de Quito, Ecuador and Embry Riddle University, United States. The project Galapagos UAV is based in subprojects that are commonly integrated for thedevelopment of each prototype. That's how it becomes a project of progressive stages, so eachstage has a prototype as result. And all these stages or prototypes have as a result a finalprototype of autonomous flight that generates the growth of manufacturing in several replicas tocover the absolute range of monitoring needs of the region of the archipelago of the GalapagosIslands. Among the sub-projects that are integrated into each stage of the project or prototypeare: Production and Manufacturing, Aerodynamic and Structural Design, Autonomous Racing,Telecommunications and Data Transmission, and finally, Takeoff and Landing of the Prototype. The project to be developed at this time belongs to the first stage of the Galapagos UAVproject and is directly related to the production and manufacturing section. This project has as aresult the presentation of the final results of the first stage of the project meaning the firstprototype of unmanned aircraft that will be tested on flight-tests and observation. For the development of this project will be implemented sequential stages of materialselection, design approval, the first use of manufacturing processes for the various parts andcomponents, mechanical testing of structural elements and coupled, and finally, the finalassembly of the first prototype. This manufacturing process is compounded by theimplementation of composite materials in the production of certain parts and the use ofprocedures to be used for the manufacture of the following stages of the overall projectGalapagos UAV.vii
