The aim of this paper is to identify the techniques of the meditative state, introspection drawing on the analysis of music language techniques; to study the music language elements and mechanisms of sense making in “Kitsch-Music for Piano” by V. Sylvestrov in detail.Research methodology. The author suggests the methodological support of the techniques of the meditative state in the context of the integral analysis of each miniature individually. The analysis of the music language techniques has been conducted aimed at studying the composer’s style, identifying its specific features in the cycle “Kitsch-Music for Piano”.Results. According to the analysis of the cycle the author identifies and gives reasons for the techniques of the manifestation of the meditative state in V. Sylvestrov’s “Kitsch-Music for Piano”. The concentration on the internal state is realized by such music techniques as an individual sound, interval, which are the self-contained participants of the continuous process. The study demonstrates that, due to the specific nature of the content, V. Silvestrov’s “Kitsch-Music” does not have permanent constructive canons leaning toward the composition and improvisatory melodic freedom, which is of primary importance in all miniatures of the cycle. The specific character of the development of a musical form is characterized as statics embodied in musical pieces in the continuous movement. The author concludes that meditation is not the focus of V. Sylvestrov’s meditative sound-perception: it only prepares the ground for the compositions oriented toward the mode of the enlightened-cathartic state of the soul.Novelty. The author suggests a new approach to identifying the cycle “Kitsch-Music for Piano” by V. Silvestrov from the point of view of the manifestation of the meditative state as well as the composer’s style in the context of the studied composition. The practical significance. The information contained in this paper can be used in the further study of V. Sylvestrov’s style (in particular, the manifestation of meditation, introspection) based on the composer’s “Kitsch-Music for Piano”.
