Flexible Polymerization Apparatus for Homo-, CO- and Terpolymerization of Olefins

The purpose of the report is to introduce the polymerization apparatus to the reader and at the same time to serve as a polymerization procedure instruction. The polymerization apparatus was developed in Helsinki University of Technology during 1988-1990. The apparatus was constructed as flexible as possible, in other words to support the homo-, co- and terpolymerization of ethylene, propylene, 1-butene and higher alpha olefins in bulk, slurry or in gas-phase with the facility to control the molecular weights. The polymerization temperature, like pressure and flow rates of different monomers, is controlled automatically and covers the range from -50 to 80C.
