Analysis of Long-Term and Seasonal River Water Quality Changes in Latvia

The paper presents the results of an analysis of long-term and seasonal riverwater quality changes in Latvia. Latvia was chosen mainly for two reasons: (1) there are relatively many river sites at which long-term observations have been made and (2) interpretation of the results is easier because only non-point sources of pollution have significant influence on river water quality at these sites. The report shows how to extract an optimal amount of information from the available historical water quality records using specially developed non-parametric tests and software.
