The tacticity of poly(glycidylmethacrylate), poly(methylmethacrylate),poly(ethylmethacrylate), poly(propylmethacrylate), poly(butylmethacrylate) have been analyzed by NMR spectroscopy. Different monomers glycidylmethacrylate, methylmethacrylate, ethylmethacrylate, propylmethacrylate, and butylmethacrylate were synthesized. For detailed elucidation of stereochemical features, polymers with varying degree of tacticities were synthesized by anionic and free radical polymerization. (1)H NMR (300 MHz) signal assignments to protons have been made while (13)C NMR (75 MHz) signal assignments to carbon atoms have been made. In (1)H NMR, using the peak multiplicities, tacticity assignment up to triad and tetrad level have been achieved for the alpha-methyl and methylene region respectively. In (13)C NMR, tactic triad, tetrad, pentad estimates are made for methyl, methylene and carbonyl carbon regions.
