摘要

The aim of the project was to study controlled rolling and accelerated coolingand the temperature and strain distributions in the steel during rolling. Modeling of accelerated cooling is important in ensuring that the desired shape and mechanical properties of steel are obtained without additional heat treatment. When no additional heat treatments are needed after the rolling process, it is possible to increase the volume of production and to save time and money. Mathematical models were studied and developed to describe the processes and to make it possible to predict the shape and mechanical properties of the final product. Models are also needed to study the influence of various processing parameters. Since full-scale experiments are expensive, a laboratory-scale cooling line for hot rolling experiments was constructed. During the project numerous hot forming and accelerated cooling experiments were carried out.
