The project design was built around four objectives: (1) the identification andrecruitment of Hispanics interested in pursuing a career in the field of gerontology who were awarded stipends to carry out an internship in a selected host agency: (2) the identification and recruitment of host agencies that provided educational experiences to the trainees in the area of management including program development with focus on serving the hispanic elderly; (3) a program of assistance to host agencies in the areas of program development to reach hispanic elderly and enable these agencies to hire and/or promote the trainee into a permanent mid or upper management position; (4) dissemination of project strategies and findings to improve the recruitment and training and thus increase the pool of hispanic gerontologists.
