摘要

The objective of the program has been to characterize the mechanism of cathodicdisbonding of organic coatings from steel. The approach has been to use surface analytical tools of Auger electron spectroscopy (AES) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) to characterize the surface chemistry of steel samples from the disbond zone after directly transferring them from the disbond environment to the ultrahigh vacuum (UHV) for analysis. In addition, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) has been used to characterize the transport of corrodents and charge to the disbond front.
