It is the purpose of this documentation to provide enough information to theusers of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) Treatment of Depression Collaborative Research Program (TDCRP) data tape that they will be able to use the tape for their own purposes or to verify the results of the TDCRP that have been published. The study has two major aims: (1) to test the feasibility and value of the collaborative clinical trial model in the area of psychotherapy research and (2) to study, within this research model, the effectiveness of cognitive behavior therapy and interpersonal psychotherapy for treating nonbipolar, nonpsychotic depressed outpatients. Volume 2 contains the study forms.
