Natural gas vehicle (NGV) cylinders are subjected to a wide variety of roadservice environments. Due to the two recent failures of composite cylinders, there is an immediate concern regarding the effect of these environments on the long term integrity of the fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) composites used in NGV designs. The purpose of this study was to determine if the combination of road salt and moisture has any deleterious effects on the FRP. The test program was conducted on Model P/N 27501000.AF fully-wrapped, aluminum lined cylinders made by Comdyne I, Inc.
