Industry and Trade Summary: Certain Miscellaneous Vegetable Substances andProducts

This summary covers miscellaneous vegetable substances and products that aremainly provided for in chapters 12, 13, and 14 of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HST). The summary provides information on the structure of the U.S. and certain foreign industries, domestic and foreign tariff and nontariff trade measures, and the competitiveness of U.S. producers in foreign and domestic markets. A description of the products covered, the U.S. rates of duty, and U.S. exports and imports are shown. Given the large number of products covered in this summary, the products have been divided into four groups: (1) hops, hop extract, and lupulin; (2) dried foliage, fibrous substances, and Christmas trees; (3) natural gums, lacs, balsams, resins of natural origins, and mucilages; and (4) botanical products for perfumery, flavoring, and pharmacy--crude, fresh, or dried.
