A workshop in Decmeber 1994 that was designed to assess our scientificunderstanding about the impact of land-use and population growth on the health of mid-Atlantic waters had two major goals: to reach a consensus on the current state of knowledge and to determine the kind of information decision makers must have if policies are to effectively protect aquatic health. The workshop brought together scientists, resource managers, and policy makers.
